Update on Rabans Lane Roundabout

Update from Alan Sherwell, Town Councillor:

Nidhi and I e-met with the new people responsible for the maintenance of the road networks in Aylesbury West Ward.

One of the main issues was the dreadful state of part of the carriageway at the roundabout between Rabans Lane and Bicester Road where anyone turning right has to cross what is virtually a ploughed field. It is unclear what caused this - it is certainly not a normal pothole situation.

There are two issues with repairing this. One is that it would require the closure of the A41 and such closure would have to be timed to avoid other closures of main roads in the general area to minimise traffic chaos.  The other is that the plan to redesign the junction as part of building the new estate means that the Council will not do a "permanent" resurface job as that would be a waste. However, the need for a temporary fix is acknowledged and is "in the programme". Unfortunately, that does not mean imminent -not least because of the road closure issue.

We have asked for a clearer timescale and for pressure to be put on those who timetable works because it is seriously unpleasant driving over this bit of road and it is impossible to avoid doing so if going right out of Rabans Lane.

We will keep pressing for action!

Alan
