British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) are looking looking for a BTO Regional Representative for Buckinghamshire! Could it be you?
Would you consider yourself as (1) actively involved in the local birding scene, (2) having current knowledge and experience of BTO surveys, and (3) keen to share your passion for our brilliant charity with others? If so, you could be exactly who we're looking for in Buckinghamshire!
We have a volunteering vacancy for the role of Regional Representative in your area. With exciting projects like the Bird Atlas 2027-31 on the horizon, there'll be lots to sink your teeth into. There's no better time to get involved.
The Regional Rep role is incredibly satisfying and rewarding! You'll engage new people enthusiastic about birds, thank current volunteers, see survey coverage increasing as a result of your efforts and know that it is all contributing towards influencing bird conservation and research both locally and nationally! This role can even be split between two people (e.g. with a friend, partner or even with someone new), and together with other local BTO volunteers, will help us to:
promote and coordinate BTO surveys within Buckinghamshire - increasing coverage so we can better understand how local bird populations are faring,
answer BTO related enquires from the public region via email - being local support the community,
engage bird clubs and wildlife groups with BTO opportunities,
represent the BTO at local events, wildlife fairs, and engagement opportunities - growing interest and involvement with the BTO in the area,
provide supporters in the region with short bulletins / newsletters (minimum 2 per year) highlighting BTO work, interesting bird news and local volunteering opportunities.
